Highlighted work across AI, research, and engineering
Research · 2022
Can a scan catch the stage before dementia?
3D convolutional neural network for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease from 18F-FDG PET brain scans, separating cognitively normal, mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's at 92.31% accuracy, and up to 96.91% pairwise.
AI · 2023
A surgeon is about to open this knee. What is already inside it?
Web platform where doctors upload an X-ray and a CNN identifies the orthopaedic implant by joint, so the model is known before revision surgery. Seven models on AWS, in use at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and by orthopaedic surgeons worldwide.
Research · 2022
Can a model diagnose through the noise?
A two-level U-Net that strips Gaussian noise from brain MRI scans, lifting PSNR from 11.90 to 30.96 and raising tumour classification accuracy by 23% on average across six CNNs. Published at IEEE ICAST 2022.
